DESCRIPTION
In this workshop, you'll learn how to float color on water, create beautiful patterns using combs and stylus tools, and make your own one-of-a-kind marbled prints on paper. We’ll cover the essentials before diving into guided experimentation with color, rhythm, and design. You’ll leave class with a collection of finished marbled papers, perfect for framing as art, card making, gift wrapping, box making, collage and other keepsake gift ideas. No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity and creativity!

Teaching artist Lisa Anderson will provide vibrant, pre-treated, professional-quality paint, pre-treated paper and a prepared liquid bath. Each student will be able to create up to twelve 8.5" x 11” prints.

On the first day, you'll learn the fascinating history of marble printmaking, see a demonstration and prepare your first design. You'll also create prints using Sumi ink, choose colors for printing and create beautiful color prints using acrylic paints. We'll practice techniques and explore both historic and contemporary styles.

On day two, you'll get to use your paper to make an art journal. You'll also explore other ways to use your prints, including covering boxes of various shapes, making fans, decorating pencils, mixed media art/collage and various other paper crafts.
