ELLEN REICHART allows her dream images and daily surroundings to merge in her art. She is drawn to the ever-changing light patterns, as well as the progression of decay, undergrowth, and renewal in the Pacific Northwest. She collects plants and organic matter from her garden and from beach walks, which she layers into her works.

To make her monotypes, Ellen rolls inks directly onto a plexiglass plate, and then runs it through a printing press with paper. Often, she runs the same plate and paper through the press numerous times, adding new color variations, hand-drawn elements, or foraged materials.

“My work is about integrating inner and outer landscapes to capture a moment of clarity,” Ellen writes. “My inspiration comes from my reverence for nature, animals, relationships, and the universal patterns that connect us all.”
