Northwind Art's Wren Society is a gathering of visionary donors who will inspire artists for generations.
THINKING OF GIVING NORTHWIND ART A LEGACY GIFT?
Membership in the Wren Society is for those who plan to leave a future gift to Northwind Art from your estate — a legacy gift to elevate gallery exhibits, to fund scholarships, build and modernize studios, and to attract the best working artists to teach and mentor students.
Northwind Art honors your commitment and passion for the arts with an annual Wren Society Gathering luncheon featuring an inspirational speaker on shaping the future of art and community in Port Townsend, and one-on-one conversations with the Executive Director about your vision for art in the future.
LEAVING A GIFT IN YOUR WILL OR ESTATE PLAN IS EASY.
You don’t need to be wealthy to make an extraordinary difference in an artist's life. Common ways to give include a bequest in a Will, Northwind named as a beneficiary of your IRA or 401(k), or the gift of a Life Insurance policy you no longer need.
Northwind Art does not ask for details or proof of intent. Just consider what you love most about Port Townsend’s arts community and the legacy you wish to leave behind.
Speak with your family and legal or financial advisor to update your estate plans. Please fill out this form, and we’ll welcome you to the Wren Society.
THE NAME “WREN” IS DERIVED FROM ...
A story of the S’Klallam, the Nux Sklai Yem, The Strong People, who have lived for millennia on this land, describes a time when the North Wind blew too hard for days on end. Several animals tried, but it was the clever Wren who finally persuaded him to stop. Since then, the North Wind never blows more than seven days at a time.*
The name “Northwind" is from this place. Where wind meets land and sea. Where motion propels creativity. Where history is brought forward. Where, from the depths of our community, art flourishes.
*This traditional story was told by Jamestown S’Klallam ancestors Joe and Lily Johnson and is shared here with permission of the Johnson family.
