DESCRIPTION
Join artist, Sue Stanton, in her offering of this grounding and unique workshop on the ancient Japanese practice of rock wrapping. This is a timeless art form that has been practiced for centuries and is renowned for its spiritual benefits.  Wrapping stones promotes a sense of calm and tranquility, enhancing positive energy, and helps to create a deeper connection with nature along with many other comforting qualities.  Today, wrapping rocks has evolved into decorative and spiritual traditions.

Perhaps you have a favorite stone, shell or finding that you hold dear and would like to incorporate into a keepsake.  You are welcome and encouraged to bring up to three oval, flat, and smooth rocks (approximately the size of a cell phone) and a few "findings". (Example: Twig, key, feather, shell, etc.).  The material fee includes wrapping material and tools needed.

Our time together will be spent learning basic techniques of rock wrapping and applications for your enjoyment.  You will be able to return home with at least one rock that you have wrapped, written instructions and a memorable experience.

SUPPLY INFORMATION
All course materials and supplies are provided with the materials fee. Students may bring stones or rocks they may want to use and are encouraged to bring items of meaning such as a feather, key, shell, etc.

ABOUT SUE
Born & raised in Colorado, the thin air and blue skies of the Rocky Mountains were the setting for much of Sue’s artistic beginnings. A childhood fashion statement of muddy little hands, matted hair & dirt filled shoes reflected Sue’s love of earthy things, sparking her love of textures, pigment & natural elements. Moving to the Pacific Northwest opened a whole new playground of artistic experiments.  Sue enjoys creating her art using various mediums. Her passion is to blend elements & give voice to the pieces she develops.

Primarily self-taught, Sue regularly attends classes & workshops. Her work ranges from watercolor, acrylic, finely detailed pen/watercolor work to bright & cheerful 3D pieces.  She has illustrated & published journals & poems, donated pieces to charitable auctions and much of her work is in private collections.

Sue moved to Port Townsend in 2012 where she & her husband combine their creative efforts.
