DESCRIPTION
Embark on an exciting, hands-on journey into the beautiful world of Japanese calligraphy, or Shodo! Taught by experienced calligrapher Chiyo Sanada, this workshop invites you to explore the timeless art of writing with brush and ink. Whether you're completely new to calligraphy or simply curious about Japanese culture and artistic expression, this class offers a welcoming space to learn, create, and connect.

Throughout the session, you’ll become familiar with the essential tools of Shodo, including the fude (brush), sumi (ink), and washi (paper). Chiyo will guide you step-by-step through basic brushstrokes, teaching you how to master balance, control, and form as you write key Japanese characters. With each stroke, you’ll experience the calming flow of ink on paper and begin to create expressive, beautiful calligraphy of your own.

No prior experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and creativity, and prepare to be inspired by the art and spirit of Japanese calligraphy.
