DESCRIPTION
Discover the wonders of the sea through beach adventures and creative art at Fort Worden!

In this exciting camp, you’ll spend your mornings exploring the shoreline with the Port Townsend Marine Science Center. Dive into hands-on discovery as we investigate Fort Worden beaches, learn about fascinating marine creatures, and explore the plants and animals that call the sea and shore home. Through fun games, art projects, and interactive activities, Marine Science Center educators will spark curiosity about our animal neighbors who live alongside us!

In the afternoons, the creativity continues at Northwind Art with local youth arts educator Myco from Wild Child Arts Education. You’ll craft unique sea-inspired projects like finger-crocheted octopi, needle-felted orcas, and sewn starfish using materials like yarn, wool roving, and craft felt—creating your own handmade ocean friends to take home. On especially warm days, campers will cool off with sprinkler play!

At the end of the week, campers will celebrate their creativity with a special pop-up kids’ art gallery to share their ocean-inspired masterpieces. Each day is filled with crafts, stories, outdoor games, and endless opportunities to explore and learn about the magical world beneath the waves!

ABOUT PORT TOWNSEND MARINE SCIENCE CENTER
The Port Townsend Marine Science Center works towards its mission of inspiring conservation of the Salish Sea during summer camps with activities that engage participants in imagination and inquiry. From building animal sculptures out of sand on the beach to surveying for signs of invasive European green crabs, campers create art and make scientific connections with Carolyn, who often uses art as a science communication tool as part of her work as PTMSC’s Education Manager.
