DESCRIPTION
We are excited to offer a class designed for anyone interested in diving into creative making or art appreciation, who feels like they are missing a foundation of the concepts of art and design. This six-week class covers the fundamental concepts and language of art so you are well prepared to practice or understand any form of visual art, design, or craft.

This class is the first of our two-part Fundamentals of Art series, focusing on the seven elements of art, the essential building blocks or visual tools that artists and designers of all media combine in infinitesimal ways depending on the artist or designer's intention. You will learn through examples, explanation, and fun art making using a variety of media. At the end of this class you will have a visual journal of notes and artwork that you can expand on in Fundamentals of Art Part 2, when you will focus on the principles of design.

At the end of these two classes you will have the basic knowledge of art and design concepts needed to be successful in any visual art form you want to practice, as well as an expanded understanding of visual art. Your instructor, Anne Pfeiffer, is a practicing artist who has also taught Fundamentals of Art and Design at the college level.

See Fundamentals of Art Part 2 to continue on this journey.
