DESCRIPTION
In this workshop, fiber artist Robin O'Neil will guide you in learning about the rich tradition of Boro, a Japanese technique of visible mending. Together, you will make small freestanding bags from scraps of fabric: solids, prints, vintage bits, and leftover linen. These scraps will be used to create a large T-shape and Sashiko embroidery will be added for embellishment by hand. After the seams have been sewed together you will be instructed in how to make a liner to put inside and finish with a top binding. You will leave with a unique hand-crafted bag and the knowledge of how to incorporate these techniques into future projects.
