Showcase Application
Thank you for your interest in joining Showcase 2024 at Northwind Art!
SHOWCASE 2024 PROGRAM AND APPLICATION INFORMATION
The Showcase 2024 program will again feature local and regional artists in Northwind Art’s Jeanette Best Gallery, 701 Water Street, Port Townsend. For 2024, the program will feature approximately a dozen artists who will show for the entire program year, from February through December 2024.
In addition, Showcase 2024 will offer the opportunity for many additional local artists to participate via its new seasonal guest-artist rotation. Approximately six additional artists will be chosen to show during each of the following three-month periods: February-April, May-July, and August-October. Finally, all artists who have participated in the program during the year will be represented in our annual Holiday Small Works show in November-December 2024.
The application process will be ongoing through June 1, 2024. Artists selected will be notified at least two months prior to their participation dates.
You may apply any time during the application period (Sept 6, 2023 - June 1, 2024), but only applications received by October 27, 2023, will be considered for the year-round and first three-month periods. You do not need to reapply if you are not initially selected. All applications will be considered and reviewed for future three-month periods.
SELECTION
Artists will be chosen by a panel of Northwind curators. We will be judging the quality, professionalism, and sales potential of the work. The selection committee will look for a cohesive body of work from each artist. Our final artist selections will reflect a variety of media, techniques, and styles.
In our efforts to provide opportunities for local artists, and to show our visitors local art, the Showcase 2024 program is geared to artists living in Jefferson, Clallam, Mason, Kitsap, and Island counties.
HOW TO APPLY
Entries are submitted through the Northwind Art website with the form below. There is a $40 entry fee (per artist, not per work). We ask you to submit 5 representative images of your current work. Each entry should include dimensions, medium, and retail price. The works submitted for judging should represent your current body of work, but do not necessarily have to be the final displayed works if you are selected.
If you are accepted, we will provide you with additional information about themed shows and events during the year; framing & wiring expectations; pricing; delivery of artwork; number of pieces for inventory; photos of your work, etc. Our contract provides for a standard gallery 50/50 commission split. There are no monthly fees. Although this is not a co-op program, artists will be asked to give an artist talk to our staff, volunteers, and visitors.
Please note: Since this is a traditional gallery model, Showcase 2024 artists are free to have short-term shows at restaurants, offices, and similar venues, but they cannot have long-term representation at another gallery or retail outlet in Port Townsend. We will create artist information cards; promote your works on our website, in our Northwind Art newsletter, and in press releases and social media. Showcase 2024 artists are first-priority eligible for our Art in the Hospital program and other Northwind Art community outreach programs.
All work in inventory will be available for sale on the Northwind Art website. If you are selected, we will ask for images of your work before the program opens; when we are preparing for shows, and as new work is added to our inventory.

We cannot answer questions about the status of your submission until the initial review period is over on Oct. 27. If you apply during the ongoing process after that date, we will notify you of your status within 30 days of your application, beginning January 1, 2024. Please do not request status updates prior to that.
