THOMPSON HOLMES of Port Angeles is a lifelong fine art photographer who believes a
photograph can do more than capture an image; it can suggest a sense of the spiritual. He aims for that with every shot. Thompson’s motto could be: “Swing hard at every pitch — you might just hit one out of the park.”
Self-taught in photography, he worked at Genesis Studio in West Virginia, focusing on weddings, portraits, and product photography. He fell in love with black and white through studying the monochrome masters, and the format remains central to his work.
Thompson’s educational background includes studies at Luzerne County Community College in Pennsylvania, Lane Community College in Oregon, and West Virginia University’s Potomac State campus. Thompson studied oil painting under artist Francis M. Tarr, whose work continues to influence his eye for composition.
