MINDY DWYER of Port Townsend’s "Chaos Series" water media paintings are steeped in
colors and dreamy narratives. Viewers will also find botanical references, plants with mystical powers, personal symbols, and elements of fairy tales, comics and printmaking.
“As a mom, an author-illustrator, musician and image-maker, I hold a respect for a constant seeking of the mystery ... Art celebrates the mystery in the everyday; it can make the mundane magic,” Mindy writes.
Living in beautiful, rugged places — Alaska, the Olympic Peninsula — has allowed her to appreciate nature and its place in our lives.
Her graphic, stylized, yet representational Chaos Series reflects a parallel, the artist adds.
“As in nature, chaos seeks order, but can also sweep us away, clearing a path to begin anew.”
