ME’L CHRISTENSEN has always been a
craftsperson of some sort, from making and selling
tie-dyes at Grateful Dead concerts to building
houses out of car tires and aluminum cans in Taos,
      New Mexico.

Between years as a professional firefighter and a registered nurse, she has created life-size mosaic sculptures and installations, batiked, drawn and painted. These days, Me’l sells her original block-printed clothing and kitchen towels at the Port Townsend Farmers Market. Her Townsend Toad booth is a market regular from April through December.
Gallery visitors around town also know Me’l’s often humorous images of stylishly dressed animals. Her artwork has been popular in Northwind Art shows such as the annual Small Expressions exhibition.
