DESCRIPTION
Previously offered as a popular two-part series, Fundamentals of Art has been reimagined as a single, comprehensive eight-week class. This newly redesigned course weaves together the best of both parts, creating an engaging and accessible format perfect for anyone eager to explore the elements and principles of visual art.

Designed for aspiring artists, art enthusiasts, and those seeking a stronger foundation, this course introduces the core concepts and language of visual art—the Art Elements and Principles of Design. These are the essential building blocks that artists and designers use in infinite combinations to express their creative intentions.

Through a blend of examples, explanations, and hands-on art-making activities using a variety of media, you'll gain a deeper understanding of how these tools are applied in art, architecture, graphic design, and more. By the end of the course, you’ll have created a visual journal filled with notes and artwork, along with a PDF review of each session, serving as lasting resources for your continued exploration.

Your instructor, Anne Pfeiffer, is a practicing artist with experience teaching Fundamentals of Art and Design at the college level. Her expertise and enthusiasm will guide you in mastering the foundational tools of art and design while inspiring your creativity.

Whether you're looking to confidently explore new workshops, better appreciate the art around you, or simply start creating, this class is for you. You will leave this course able to say: I am an Artist.

SUPPLY INFORMATION
Students are asked to bring the following:

A 9"x12" spiral bound Mixed Media journal
All other materials provided, but feel free to bring your own collection of art supplies.

ABOUT ANNE
Anne Pfeiffer has a graduate degree in painting and decades of experience as a high school art teacher, community college art instructor, and adult and teen workshop instructor. She currently lives in Port Angeles and paints landscapes and still lifes, often plein air, and participates in regional and national exhibitions and events.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If Northwind Art has to cancel a course for any reason, all enrolled students will receive a 100% refund (including any materials fee).

Students who withdraw from a course at least seven days prior to its first meeting will receive a 90% refund (less any materials fee). 

Students withdrawing fewer than seven days from the first day of class are not eligible for a refund except in the case of illness or injury, in which case they are eligible to receive a 40% refund (less any materials fee).

Please note that 10% of every course’s registration fee is considered to be a non-refundable deposit in cases of withdrawal to cover administrative overhead. All refunds will be applied to the same credit card that was used for enrollment. No credits or transfers will be granted.
