DESCRIPTION
Immerse yourself in the magic of natural color in Blue, Blue, an indigo dye workshop led by textile artist Alexa Anderson of Light Wiggler. Set outdoors at Fort Worden, this hands-on session will guide participants through preparing a communal indigo vat and experimenting with a variety of shibori-inspired resist and patterning techniques. Whether you are new to dyeing or seeking to deepen your skills, you will gain both the knowledge and confidence to make and maintain your own indigo vat at home.

Participants will be provided with cotton fabric squares to dye, and are encouraged to bring their own small, clean, natural-fiber items—such as fabric scraps or T-shirts—to dip into the blue. The outdoor setting offers a beautiful, natural environment in which to explore this ancient dye tradition, so please dress in layers, bring a hat, and wear clothing suitable for working with dye. Come ready to engage with process, community, and place.
