DESCRIPTION
Nothing makes your collage and mixed media art more unique than to use your own originally designed art papers. Join Anne Schneider in creating papers in novel ways with unusual tools and marks and your personally selected palette of colors. We will finish the day by following guidelines to use your newly created papers in creating a cohesive series of abstract artwork.

SUPPLY INFORMATION
Student should bring:

  • Paper towels.
  • Scissors.
  • Paint brushes (½ inch and smaller).
  • Basic acrylic paints: one each of the primary colors, red, yellow, blue, (select a medium shade, not too dark or too light), plus black and white (not fluid or high flow acrylics).
  • Jar lids of various sizes.
  • Baby wipes.
  • Spray bottle for water.
  • Possible papers to paint on, such as pages from books, maps, musical scores or scrapbook papers.
  • Paint shirt or apron to protect your clothes.
  • Ruler.
  • Pad or sketch book of mixed media paper.
  • White and black paint markers (examples: Posca paint pen, Edding permanent acrylic pen, Blick studio pen, Tombow pen).
  • Matte medium or ModPodge, and brush to use as applicator.
  • Three used teabags
  • White tissue paper (that is used in wrapping).

The $5 materials fee covers substrate papers for your collages, palette plates, deli paper, foam applicators and rollers, nitrile gloves, palette knives, soft gel gloss, and mark-making tools.

ABOUT ANNE
Having lived in Port Townsend for over 30 years, Anne Schneider emerged from retirement as a mixed media collage artist. While learning techniques in collage artistry from teachers across the country, she found her own unique voice, bringing a lively palette to abstraction. She is a member of Port Townsend Gallery with work in many private collections.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If Northwind Art has to cancel a course for any reason, all enrolled students will receive a 100% refund (including any materials fee).

Students who withdraw from a course at least seven days prior to its first meeting will receive a 90% refund (less any materials fee). 

Students withdrawing fewer than seven days from the first day of class are not eligible for a refund except in the case of illness or injury, in which case they are eligible to receive a 40% refund (less any materials fee).

Please note that 10% of every course’s registration fee is considered to be a non-refundable deposit in cases of withdrawal to cover administrative overhead. All refunds will be applied to the same credit card that was used for enrollment. No credits or transfers will be granted.
