DESCRIPTION
Turn yourself loose and have fun exploring the endless possibilities of collage! Teaching artist Anne Schneider will guide you in creating abstract compositions using both paints and collage papers, with discussions on different composition styles to inspire your work. Throughout the workshop, you'll get to practice layering techniques, experiment with transparent layers, and incorporate mark-making to add depth and interest to your finished mixed-media artwork.
This workshop is designed to enhance your art practice, especially if you have participated in other collage or mixed-media classes. It’s also a great opportunity to make use of your personal collection of collage papers while discovering new ways to bring your collages to life.
SUPPLY INFORMATION
Canvas panels, additional paints, palette plates, palette knife, deli paper, foam applicators, transparent papers will be provided with the non-refundable material fee. Stencils, soft gel gloss, mark making tools, rulers, and pencils will also be provided by the teaching artist.
Students should also bring:
- Acrylic basic paints: black, white, primary colors (red, blue, yellow) and other assorted colors,
- Fluid acrylic paints, 1 fl oz. size, in assorted colors,
- Paint brushes,
- Brayer 3”-4” with rubber roller,
- Baby wipes or alcohol,
- Scissors,
- Any collage papers you already have, maps, music scores, text pages from books,
- Marking pen,
- Paint shirt or apron to protect your clothes.

ABOUT ANNE
Having lived in Port Townsend for over 30 years, Anne Schneider emerged from retirement as a mixed media collage artist. While learning techniques in collage artistry from teachers across the country, she found her own unique voice, bringing a lively palette to abstraction. She is a member of Port Townsend Gallery with work in many private collections.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If Northwind Art has to cancel a course for any reason, all enrolled students will receive a 100% refund (including any materials fee).
Students who withdraw from a course at least seven days prior to its first meeting will receive a 90% refund (less any materials fee).
Students withdrawing fewer than seven days from the first day of class are not eligible for a refund except in the case of illness or injury, in which case they are eligible to receive a 40% refund (less any materials fee).
Please note that 10% of every course’s registration fee is considered to be a non-refundable deposit in cases of withdrawal to cover administrative overhead. All refunds will be applied to the same credit card that was used for enrollment. No credits or transfers will be granted.
