DESCRIPTION

Learn the essentials of professional framing and presentation in this workshop hosted inside a working custom frame shop. Designed especially for artists preparing work for gallery exhibitions, this class covers professional framing standards, materials, and techniques that help artwork look polished, protected, and ready to hang. All experience levels are welcome.

Students will explore the parts of a framing package, including matting, mounting methods for different mediums, glazing options, hanging hardware, conservation materials, and framing tools. The class also covers mat cutting basics, creative problem-solving, and how to make presentation choices that best support your artwork.

By the end of class, students will better understand how to prepare artwork for exhibition or personal display with confidence. Students are encouraged to bring photos of artwork they have questions about for discussion and guidance (please do not bring physical artwork, as studio space is limited).

ABOUT LINDA

Linda Dugan is the owner of The Big Picture, a custom framing studio in downtown Port Townsend. She has been framing in Port Townsend for 29 years and is passionate about working with artists and collectors to make the process of framing design fun and accessible. She works collaboratively to create the best possible presentation for their art, while protecting it for generations.

She has lived and worked in Port Townsend since 1987.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If Northwind Art has to cancel a course for any reason, all enrolled students will be notified and receive a 100% refund of the course enrollment fee.

Students withdrawing from a course at least seven days prior to the first day of class will receive a 90% refund of the course enrollment fee.

Students withdrawing fewer than seven days from the first day of class are not eligible for a refund—except for illness or injury, in which case students are eligible to receive a 40% refund of the course enrollment fee.

Please note that 10% of every course’s registration fee is considered a non-refundable deposit to cover administrative overhead. Any donation given at the time of checkout is also non-refundable. All refunds will be applied to the same credit card that was used for enrollment. No credits or transfers will be granted.
