DESCRIPTION
You will see colors in a whole new way after this workshop! Together, we'll learn to create color harmonies in varied combinations, and expand our color ranges into previously unexplored territories. By making many small paintings using the same subject reference, and through slideshow presentations and painting demos, this weekend course will open up a new world of harmonizing colors.
Teaching artist Wayne Jiang is your guide as you learn how to:
- Mix colors using a limited color palette to get a wider range of shades of muted and saturated colors;
- Add harmonizing colors while avoiding clashing colors;
- Use simple color wheel logic to explore color combinations;
- Create color studies to explore color combination possibilities;
- Apply basic rules of color and emotions.
All mediums are welcome (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, colored pencil, Procreate), while Wayne will do his painting demos with acrylic. This workshop's activities also include student work feedback sessions and eye training exercises, all to help refine your painting techniques and observation skills. Photo references will be provided for our painting assignments, while more experienced participants can use their own photo references.
