DESCRIPTION
Here is an opportunity to enter the world of glass art, with teaching artist Brian Iverson opening the doors. Lampworking, also known as flameworking or torchworking, is the art of melting and shaping glass rods or tubes with a high-temperature torch to create decorative objects like beads, marbles, and small sculptures.

With all materials provided, we'll make beads and/or small blown-glass vessels, and learn about color choices, basic shaping and adding color to glass. Brian is teaching three stand-alone sessions, so you can sign up for any or all of them to learn a variety of techniques. Each class is also a building block for future glass making.

ABOUT BRIAN
Brian Iverson was drawn to Port Townsend and its strong arts community in 1999 and fell in love with the Olympic Peninsula. While pursuing his passion for creating glass art, he was a commercial fisherman in Alaska and the Pacific Ocean, and worked on boats in Port Townsend. Over his 25-year art career, Brian has collaborated with many glass artists, and taught students in several public hot shops. He worked alongside world-class artists at Moana Glass, creating large sculptural work in the state-of-the-art hot shop, and participated in sessions at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Wash., both as a student and as a studio assistant to the artist in residence. Brian also assisted the artist in residence at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma in 2022. He operates a booth at the Jefferson County Farmers Market, and has participated in gallery exhibitions including at the Port Townsend Gallery's indoor and outdoor spaces.  Brian is currently constructing a home studio as he continues his exploration and growth as an artist.
