DESCRIPTION
Let's spend some time with the legendary Frida Kahlo. We all know her as an icon — draw a circle with heavy eyebrows and a flower crown and anyone will know whom you mean — but what do we really know about her as an artist and as a person? What did Kahlo's art mean to her, and what did this artist's voice mean during the times she lived in?
Kahlo was more than a painter and fashion icon. She opened the door for artists to express their deepest, truest selves. Despite many life events that could have broken her, Kahlo transformed her pain into beautiful, deeply meaningful art.
In this class we will find the woman behind the icon and discover what she has to teach us about creative catharsis, symbology, and how art making can move us through pain and challenging times.
