Spring into Summer
Jewelry by April Ottey | Multi-media works by Ellen Reichart
June 4 – August 29, 2022
Thursday—Monday 12 to 5
Grover Gallery
236 Taylor Street, Port Townsend, Washington
“We’re excited to feature both of these artists at Grover,” says Kathleen Garrett, Northwind Art Exhibits Director. “April Ottey’s jewelry is amazing, her casting techniques really capture the beauty of so many of the things she finds on her walks in nature.”
From seedpods to sea urchin, from bark to blossoms, April Ottey creates jewelry that allows you to connect with and keep nature close at all times.
“Ellen’s paintings have an almost otherworldliness about them,” says Garrett. “There’s also an element of spirituality and reverence for nature that you can feel when you look at them.”
Ellen Reichart works from memory and allows her dream images and daily surroundings merge into her art. Creating from a variety of mediums, she often integrates found organic materials in her work.
ALSO ON VIEW at Grover Gallery, artwork by four teaching artists at Northwind Art School at Fort Worden: Kelly Drake, Tracy Bigelow Grisman, Meg Kaczyk, and Suzanne Lamon. Continuing the theme of nature, these artists’ vibrant and serene paintings in sizes ranging from small to large depict realistic (Drake), impressionistic (Grisman and Kaczyk), and fantastically layered landscapes and memoryscapes (Lamon).
ADDITIONAL 2-and 3-dimensional art works are also available in our retail space including jewelry by Elyse Garling, small paintings by Max Grover, silver jewelry and small sculpture by Tom Walden, prints and wood sculpture by Todd Horton, baskets made from ocean findings by Shelby Silver, and much more!
