What would the world be without Chickens? Spend a fun evening celebrating the venerable chicken with a painted portrait! “Paint & Pizza” sessions are a fun introduction to painting – in a gallery setting! Designed for absolute beginners, but enjoyable for anyone, P & P’s have a casual night on the town vibe, with wine, snacks, and music. Beloved acrylic painter Julie Read gives step-by-step instruction from start to finish, encouraging each artist to find their own voice. No two paintings will be the same!
- For this session you will need to bring in a photo of a chicken (Hen, Rooster, chicks...) printed out in color.
- Everything you need to make a painting will be provided, except for an apron! Please be advised that long sleeves are typically the first thing to be decorated by this permanent medium.
- Waterfront Pizza, beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and cookies are provided too!

Julie Read is a self-taught acrylic painter, learning the basics from Port Townsend artist and teacher Max Grover. Her painting style is narrative realism, often with a humorous and nostalgic bent. She teaches using traditional painting techniques that produce true-to-life images but encourages her students to find their own painterly style with a broad range of assignments and exercises.
