Celebrate Valentine's Day with a silly date night painting a portrait of your partner or friend in this unique class! Each couple will sit across from each other, and paint a portrait. It may not be perfect, but it will be hilarious and a great memory! Everything you need to make a painting will be provided, but you will need to bring in a picture of your partner to work from (since they will be moving around painting a picture of YOU!) And don't worry, Julie Read will give you step-by-step instructions to help you succeed.
“Paint & Pizza” classes with Julie Read are a fun introduction to painting – in a gallery setting, using artist's grade materials! Designed for beginners, but enjoyable for all, this class has a casual night on the town vibe, with Waterfront Pizza, wine, beer, N/A beverages, dessert, and gentle, eclectic music. Julie Read guides you step-by-step, encouraging each artist to find their own voice, while sneaking in plenty of valuable tips and resources for those starting out or wanting to try Acrylic painting.
Students are asked to bring a $25 supply fee the day of the class, payable directly to the instructor in cash or check.
- Everything you need to make a painting will be provided, except for an apron! Please be advised that long sleeves are typically the first thing to be decorated by this permanent medium.
- For this session you will need to bring in a photo of your partner, printed out in color.
- Pizza, beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages and cookies are provided too!

Julie Read is a self-taught acrylic painter, learning the basics from Port Townsend artist and teacher Max Grover. Her painting style is narrative realism, often with a humorous and nostalgic bent. She teaches using traditional painting techniques that produce true-to-life images but encourages her students to find their own painterly style with a broad range of assignments and exercises.
