DESCRIPTION
Join Andrea Alonge as she speaks about her practice creating quilted textile wall hangings. Andrea's work explores tactility in a digital world, connection and communication, and optical illusions as a metaphor for life in a technological age. Using quilting and surface embellishments, she "draws" with textiles to create abstract shapes that evoke a sense of presence and spirituality. By combining vintage and contemporary textiles, the works bring together different histories, creating a link between past and present and drawing in the shared memories of familiar textiles from childhood and textiles we see today.
One hour lecture followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. Registration is recommended, but no one will be turned away at the door.
