Today’s high-quality colored pencils are a fine art medium with many applications, from sketching and rendering to combining with other mediums. Learn fundamental colored pencil techniques including layering, blending, etching and burnishing, as well as several mixed media processes. Step-by-step instruction makes it easy, non-intimidating and fun. Nonie will provide resources and images but you are welcome to bring your own ideas – intense colorful subjects are encouraged!


  • $15 cash or check payable to the instructor at the start of the workshop covers all materials
  • Students may bring their own set of Prismacolor (Premier NOT Verithin) or Caran d’Ache pencils if desired.

Nonie Gaines holds a BFA and is a Certified Art Instructor, award-winning art teacher and artist. She won 2014 Honorable Mention and 2015 Best in Show in the PT Wearable Art Show and exhibits at Northwind Art Grover Gallery. Her deep experience working with all ages and abilities makes learning art exciting and fun.
