Her work is an exploration into our perception of the physical world, its importance in our lives, and how our understanding is shaped by our environment and our own perceptions and attitudes. She combines vibrant color, value, and texture, to create pieces that balance the representational and abstract. She has an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts and a Master's in Whole Systems Design. Many years ago she was fortunate enough to see the profound impact art can have in people's lives. She taught art to children, as an art docent, in public schools for over 12 years, taught at a juvenile detention center, worked with youth & young adults experiencing homelessness, and currently teaches art to inmates at the Island County jail. She shows her work at Cultus Bay Glass on Whidbey Island.

Artist Website: Beth Herrild, @bethherrild_art

—

DISCOUNTS
This course is eligible for a 10% member discount at the Supporter level and beyond. Get a membership today!

Don's Pharmacy and Art Toolkit in Port Townsend offer a 10% discount for Northwind Art School students.

—

CANCELLATION POLICY
If Northwind Art has to cancel a course for any reason, all enrolled students will be notified and receive a 100% refund of the course enrollment fee.

Students withdrawing from a course at least seven days prior to the first day of class will receive a 90% refund of the course enrollment fee.

Students withdrawing fewer than seven days from the first day of class are not eligible for a refund—except for illness or injury, in which case students are eligible to receive a 40% refund of the course enrollment fee.

Please note that 10% of every course’s registration fee is considered a non-refundable deposit to cover administrative overhead. A variety of materials like paper, fabric, wire, streamers, foil, plastic, vinyl, sticks, string, ribbons, foam, vegetable net bags, plastic odds and ends, paper mache and more will be available in the classroom, while students are welcome to bring additional materials.

Campers can use the sewing machine if they’re interested, and they will have a chance to finish their pieces using acrylic paint techniques and other enhancements. She was born, raised, and lived in Hawaii for the majority of her life, and moved to Washington in 2018. Evette has a BS degree in Fashion Design and is a multi-award winning costumer. Always searching for the perfect fabric for a costume, Evette ventured into painting on silk in 2015 and found a new passion. She started by attempting to create the design of a vintage kimono, which was inspired by childhood memories of her grandmother dressing Evette up in the most colorful kimonos to celebrate Girls' Day. She still loves color and all her paintings are quite colorful. Evette won first place in the 2D division at the 2021 Silk Painters International Festival for her piece Solace.
