Career animator Jim Bradrick is offering this fun and unique workshop where you will learn how to create your own animated flip book. Jim will demonstrate how to plan your flip book so that you can get the result you want in your own style. You will learn about the numberless possibilities in manipulating a flip book image, not only in movement but also with changes in size, color, and shape.

You will be shown how to control the timing within your animation for the most dramatic effect. Whether you want to draw a character or manipulate words or even images created with rubber stamps, there is real satisfaction in making images come alive. You can even create unforgettable greeting cards in flip book form!

This two-day workshop begins with learning a few basic animation tricks, with examining flip books from Jim’s collection, and with each person planning their flip book in consultation with Jim. Then students will begin rendering the actual 40-50 pages of their book, most likely working in erasable pencil so that changes can be made.

On the second day, we will work with ink and colors to make the images as
vivid as possible. By the end of this workshop you should be able to walk out with your finished flip book, as well as being equipped to make more on your own!

All necessary supplies, including paper, pencils, and ink, are provided with the materials fee.

After registration, course details are available via the Northwind Art School learning portal, including course syllabus and supply information. Learn more
