Spontaneous Color and Collage

AGE GROUP: Adult (and ages 15 and up)
LOCATION: In Person at Building 306, Fort Worden, Port Townsend. (COVID protocol will be observed, read our policies here)

DESCRIPTION

In this lively session, you’ll create mini, abstract collages on the spot with papers and color. No paints! Your artist-teachers Anne Schneider and Carol Nielsen show you how to work spontaneously from prompts and you’ll see – in real time – very different art works that result. Enjoy similarities and differences in style as you interpret prompts and create art.  At the end of the day the class will look at how composition and visual interest can make a difference in what you make. You will be surprised at what emerges when you just play! No collage experience needed.

SUPPLY INFORMATION

You will need to bring: 

• Acrylic matte medium or Modge Podge
• Plastic palette knife
• Collage papers from your own collection which can include maps, text pages musical scores
• Black marking pen or paint pen
• Heat gun, optional
• Scissors

ABOUT ANNE AND CAROL

Anne Schneider emerged from retirement as a mixed media collage artist. While learning techniques in collage artistry from teachers across the country – she found her own unique voice, bringing a lively palette to abstraction. Carol Nielsen’s style is informed by years of creating balance and symmetry in her work with teams and in nature as a Master Gardener.
