DESCRIPTION
Nuno felting is an adventure in creating with fiber. While regular felting methods result in a heavier fabric, the Nuno technique lends itself particularly well to thin and airy wraps or shawls. With this wet felting technique, wool or fiber is embedded or entangled with and through an open weave fabric such as silk chiffon or silk gauze. The felting is accomplished by applying water, heat, and friction to the wool.

Join Lora in discovering the world of this creative and relatively new art that has so many possibilities. You will create a beret that is dimensional and seamless using a resist. Learning to shingle layers along with accenting with embellishment fibers, such as fabric, silk hankies, and wool yarns, you will explore how the fiber shrinks, the immersion and blending of colors and fibers to create a unique, custom-fit beret.

SUPPLY INFORMATION
The following materials and supplies are provided as part of the $45 materials fee: 100% wool fiber, 100% 8mm silk, bits and bobs [i.e., yarns (wool/silk), Angelina, netting] for felting, brauser sprinkler, bubble wrap, olive oil soap.

Please bring your own:  bowl, scissors, bath towel, and linen hand towel. Additional details will be provided upon registration.

ABOUT LORA
Lora Armstrong's journey began much longer ago than her felting career. As a child she sewed and knitted, which helped her gain admiration for fiber arts. Dabbling in painting/design/fashion classes in school, her pieces began to take on a more intuitive and personalized aesthetic. Her imagination for the art is insatiable and she would like to share her knowledge of felting!

CANCELLATION POLICY
If you cannot attend a course for any reason, we can offer you a refund as follows:

• If you cancel more than 2 weeks before the course start date, you will receive a full refund.
• If you cancel less than 2 weeks before course start date, you will receive a 50% refund.
• If you cancel one week or less before the course start date, there will be no refund.
