DESCRIPTION
Fold forming is one of the most versatile and exciting methods of shaping sheet metal to be developed in recent times. By folding, forging, and then unfolding the metal you can quickly create all sorts of beautiful three dimensional shapes.
The technique is fast because you are working multiple layers of metal at the same time. Because the metal moves in a manner similar to how plants grow, many of the forms you create have an organic look to them. The tools for this technique are very basic, and you probably already have most of them! You can use fold forming in jewelry work, small scale sculpture, and mixed media art.

ABOUT BILL
Bill Dawson started out at the University of Oregon as a blacksmith, making tools for the jewelry studio. Since then he has made his living as a metalsmith. He is less interested in whether a work is representational or metaphorical, realistic or abstract; rather, he looks for an underlying creative honesty. It is this honesty of expression that he tries to make the foundation of all his efforts: in his art, outlook, and life.
