This 2-day drawing and painting workshop allows you to relax into creating. Break out of realism into the delight of color and form that is abstraction. Embark on a distillation process, arriving at your own modern art that joyfully expresses the basics of subject and scene. You'll begin by drawing small, from a photo or realistic image. Working iteratively with composition, shapes, few details and color, you’ll loosen your grip on realism. Going bigger, you move further into an exploration of essence.

  • Materials fee of $20 to be paid directly to the instructor on the first day of class.

After registration, course details are available via the Northwind Art School learning portal, including course syllabus and supply information. Learn more

Meg Kaczyk began her creative career as an illustrator and designer in Detroit, moving west to become a creative director in Portland. The precision of graphic design played counterpoint to her painting, emboldening her loose and fluid style. Meg loves the collaboration in teaching and empowers her students to make art that arises from their own seeing.
