DESCRIPTION
This class is for anyone and everyone that has had some experience with watercolor. We will be moving beyond the building blocks of watercolor to start building compositions. Effective composition will allow your artwork to communicate and express more while highlighting the watercolor skills you have gained. This six-week class will help you answer common questions like, "how do you put images together?" and "what do I paint?" 

With Suzanne's bold and levity-filled guidance, you will be led down an exploratory path of color, emotional expression, and visual storytelling. You will learn how to add qualities such as whimsy, and how best to communicate the ideas you want. With the other participants you will gain the "how to..." through assignments and projects that will help you build your own visual vocabulary with strategies and tools that spark your own creativity.

SUPPLY INFORMATION
  • A #6, #8 or #10 round, sable watercolor brush.
  • A watercolor paper pad, medium size, 12” x 14" or similar.
  • Watercolor paints (tubes, cakes, a little tin of colors; whatever you prefer).
  • Palette (this can be a plate, something you buy, or you can use Northwind Art School’s palettes during class).

ABOUT SUZANNE
Suzanne Lamon is a Port Townsend artist known for her brilliant narrative watercolor work. She was a graduate student at Washington State University in the 1970s, was a founding faculty member of Port Townsend School of the Arts, and has exhibited extensively in the Pacific Northwest.

CANCELLATION POLICY
If Northwind Art has to cancel a course for any reason, all enrolled students will receive a 100% refund (including any materials fee).

Students who withdraw from a course at least seven days prior to its first meeting will receive a 90% refund (less any materials fee). 

Students withdrawing fewer than seven days from the first day of class are not eligible for a refund except in the case of illness or injury, in which case they are eligible to receive a 40% refund (less any materials fee).

Please note that 10% of every course’s registration fee is considered to be a non-refundable deposit in cases of withdrawal to cover administrative overhead. All refunds will be applied to the same credit card that was used for enrollment. No credits or transfers will be granted.
